Online Mixing and Mastering Services
Creative mixing and mastering for rap, hip hop, trap, emo rap and reggaeton, by JakeTheBirdy
I've been mixing songs for independent artists since 2021. I don't just balance levels. I treat every mix as a chance to rework the song: the beat, the vocals and the arrangement, until it's the version that grabs a listener the hardest.
Most of the people I work with are independent rappers and singers, many of them recording on my own beats. Everything happens online: you upload your vocals and the beat, and I send back a finished, mastered song.
Every mix includes vocal tuning, timing edits, comping, vocal effects, beat rework and mastering, for one price of $150 per song.

Short excerpts of finished songs, mixed and mastered by me
I don't just mix. I rework the song.
A standard mix balances the levels and makes the track loud. The part I care about most goes further: deciding the second verse needs a beat switch, or that the hook hits harder when the drums drop out for a bar. Depending on what your song needs, I:
- Re-arrange the structure so the song builds the right way
- Add or mute beat elements to make room for the vocal
- Build beat switches and drops
- Add transitions and risers between sections
- Create vocal chops
- Place adlibs where they hit hardest
If a change isn't for you, that's what the revisions are for.
What's included for $150
Vocal tuning
Pitch correction with Antares Auto-Tune and Celemony Melodyne.
Timing edits
Every line tightened to the beat.
Comping
The best parts of every take, stitched into one performance.
Vocal effects
Delays, throws and adlib effects that give the vocal character.
Beat rework
Drops, switches and arrangement changes where the song needs them.
Mastering
A loud, streaming-ready master, delivered as a WAV file.
Up to 2 revisions, about a week of turnaround and a final WAV master, all for $150 per song.
Recorded on one of my beats? I mix from the original stems
Most engineers only get a stereo beat to work with. If your song is on one of my beats, I always mix from the beat's original stems, so every drum, 808 and melody can be shaped around your vocal instead of fighting it. It's also what makes the beat reworks possible: I can mute, rearrange or rebuild parts of the beat itself.
Haven't picked a beat yet? Browse the catalogue of more than 1,200 beats. If you're sending a beat from another producer, stems work best, but a stereo WAV is fine too.
Genres I mix
Rap and hip hop
The vocal has to sit clearly on top, with the 808 and kick locked together underneath.
Trap
Hard-hitting low end and bouncy hi-hats, with space left for adlibs.
Emo rap and rock
Guitars and vocals that carry the emotion without turning into mush.
Reggaeton
A tight dembow groove with the vocal riding right on top of it.

How to prepare your files for mixing
- Export every vocal track (lead, doubles, adlibs, harmonies) as its own WAV file.
- Start every export at the very beginning of the song so everything lines up.
- Send vocals dry, without effects. If an effect is part of the sound, send a version with it too.
- Include the beat as a WAV file, or its stems if you have them.
- Put the BPM, key and a reference track in your notes.
What artists say
From the reviews clients left on my SoundBetter profile, where you can read them in full.
“JakeTheBirdy's attention to detail is incredible. I was sceptical at first but I trusted him with my first song professionally mixed and I've done around 10 songs with him since then! The beat remixes are awesome and unique.”
“Jake was the 1st producer who took my songs under his wing and then blew it out the water. He is distant from me, being in NY I never felt disconnected as he is attentive and considerate of any request I had. If you have Mixing and Mastering needs, I know for a fact Jake will deliver.”
“Been working with Jake for 3 years. Never once had a problem. Mixing always surpassed myself as we do each song. His beats and his mixing definitely speaks for itself. Hard working guy, and that's the type of people I want to work with!”
“We did a whole project together, both production & mixing. He really nailed down the sound I wanted, my taste is quite versatile but it wasn't an issue on his end as he's used to working in a different genres. He also made my vocals fit to each track perfectly, adapted the sound to the style of each one. Overall I enjoyed, looking forward to do more work together in future”

Mixing and mastering FAQ
How much does mixing and mastering cost?
$150 per song. That covers mixing, mastering, vocal tuning and editing, beat rework and up to 2 revisions.
What's the difference between mixing and mastering?
Mixing shapes every part of the song: vocal levels, tuning, effects, the beat and how everything fits together. Mastering is the final step that makes the finished mix loud, consistent and ready for streaming. I do both, so the master is built for the mix it came from.
How long does it take?
About a week from when I receive your files.
How many revisions do I get?
Up to 2 revisions are included.
What do I get at the end?
A WAV master of the finished song.
Can you mix a song I recorded on one of your beats?
Yes. I always mix from the beat's original stems, which gives far more control than a stereo file and makes beat reworks possible.
What does a mixing engineer do?
A mixing engineer takes the separate recordings of a song, like the vocals, adlibs and the beat, and shapes them into one finished track: balancing levels, tuning and editing the vocals, adding effects and making everything fit together. My mixes go further into the song itself, with beat switches, transitions, vocal chops and adlib placement.
Do I need to be in the studio?
No. Everything happens online: you upload your files and I send back the master. I work with artists in different countries.
What genres do you mix?
Mostly rap and hip hop, trap, emo rap and rock, and reggaeton.
