Hip Hop Beats

These are beats for writers: storytellers and introspective rappers who have something to say. I keep the arrangements balanced, with enough going on to carry a verse without crowding it, over straight, punchy drums.

A lot of the melodic parts are analog keys I play and record live, and some beats use sounds I recorded outside myself. Electric piano and strings usually lead the loops.

The range goes from 90s-style boom bap to soulful, conscious beats, hard technical ones for rappers who like to show off, and stripped-back beats in the minimal Neptunes style. If I were handing one to a lyricist, it would be "Up In The Smoke".
