No Melody Beats

Most of these are purely drum-based: no melody laid down at all. Some carry a subtle droned, reverbed one-shot in the background for atmosphere, and that is the whole arrangement.

Taking the melody out makes a beat more aggressive and more minimal, and it moves the attention onto the performer instead of the instrumental.

The 808 pattern, the hats and the percussion carry the song. Start with "Parasite": it carries a Pharrell Williams energy with a dark twist on it, something I had not heard before.

Recording tip: They sound best with an aggressive performance — either an energetic delivery, or the complete opposite: cold, lowkey and evil sounding.
